The World in My Head

Artist Statement-

Since time began, people expressed themselves in many nonverbal ways. They wrote poetry, danced, sculpted, and created in many other artistic ways. As an artist, I often expressed myself through drawing and painting. A medium that I wasn’t familiar with before is photography. This series of photographs explores my self-expression with who I am as a person and how I see the world.

The easiest way to express who I am is by how I dress. Being born on a holiday, I wanted to display this by dressing in purple and black with spider webs. Surrounded by autumn leaves and warm lights against the dark wood stairs, I wanted to create a spooky yet warm, nostalgic feeling of my early years of life. Flash forward to now, I dress myself and the world around me in bright, vibrant colors. Even when there is bleakness going on in the world, I wanted to share that there are still the brighter things worth living for. That is what I see through my eyes, and I hope to see the happy thoughts I dream of to be seen in reality.
